This short circuit, targeted to anyone that has a limited time but wants to enjoy the icons of archaeology, Kuelap fortress and Sarcophagus of Karajia, adding a touch of nature, visiting Cocachimba village to hear and see the great Gocta Waterfalls.

CHACHAPOYAS/KARAJIA/GOCTA/CHACHAPOYAS At 08h30 departure to Cruzpata village where we start the short hike to Sarcophagus of Karajia. Then transfer to Cocachimba village where we’ll take a lunch at the lodge located in front of the amazing Gocta Waterfalls (771m vertical drop). Return to Chachapoyas. Hotel. |

CHACHAPOYAS/KUELAP/CHACHAPOYAS At 08h30 departure to Kuelap (9000ft). Visit to the Kuelap Fortress. Lunch on the way back. Return to Chachapoyas at 18h00. Hotel.
Kuelap fortress is the most important citadel of Chachapoya Kingdom; its function was acting as a Fortress by 1000 years until the defeat under the Incas army. Forgotten and covered by vegetation was discovered before Machu Picchu but remained unstudied until the last years. This huge stone building is maybe the second most important in Peruvian pre Hispanic history. |
